Welcome to ✨ On My Heavy Rotation ✨, where I break down songs I had on repeat throughout the month and compile it all into a playlist from “on repeat” to “most repeated” (since playlist curation for me is LIT-CHERALLY my personality trait).
Priorities pivoted throughout the month of March (so I wasn’t able to get February’s rotation list out, thus why February and March are compiled into one). So without further ado…
Ladies and gentlemen, February & March 🥶
I LIKE U // NIKI
I don’t remember how this song came to frequent my heavy rotation every couple of months (for a song that’s been out for five years now), but I know I always magically find my way back to it. Very catchy, very mellow and chill, and very cute.
Stoned at the Nail Salon // Lorde
I feel like this song was on my heavy rotation because I struggled the most with sleep in March, and listening to music always does it for me. So Stoned at the Nail Salon was definitely my sleep song, me thinks.
Mood Ring // Lorde
I will never get tired of listening to this song. It joins Stoned at the Nail Salon on my heavy rotation because I really can’t listen to one without listening to the other — those two come in a pair for me (they also happen to be my favourite songs off Solar Power).
Disco Man // Remi Wolf
If you have never once listened to Disco Man by Remi Wolf, let alone Remi Wolf at all, you are depriving yourself of some really good music (and doing yourself a huge disservice).
Good in Bed // Dua Lipa
I’m still convinced this song kinda sounds like Smile by Lily Allen (I’ve heard a mash-up of both and *chef’s kiss*), but this song is just as good on its own. On my heavy rotation solely because of how catchy it is.
Colors // Black Pumas
No, because the way Black Pumas’ debut self-titled album has NO, absolutely ZERO fucking skips?? It’s mental. Of course, Colors is their most popular song (and this song alone should convince you to listen) but my god, their sound is out of this world.
Our Day Will Come // Amy Winehouse
If you know me, you know how much I truly love Amy Winehouse so this shouldn’t come as a shock on my heavy rotation…
He Can Only Hold Her // Amy Winehouse
…nor should this one.
What It Is (Block Boy) (Solo Version) // Doechii
I won’t say too much about this song other than the fact that it’s a fucking banger and have been heavily throwin it back since it dropped.
homies // Saint Harison ft. Tiana Major9
Listen, DO NOT sleep on Saint Harison and DO NOT sleep on this song. This song is number one, most-repeated for a reason and that’s because homies is a BANGER. I came across it one New Music Friday and it simply never stopped playing, summing up what my February and March heavy rotation was.
Hey bestie! If you’ve made it this far and you’re reading this, it means you made it through the entirety of this month’s heavy rotation playlist without clicking off. Congratulations, you now get access to the songs that made it onto my honourable mentions list – the tracks that were too good not to add.
*Honourable Mentions:
Everytime (I’m A Little Bit Like You) // McDermott & North
Until next month…
ED out x.
