So this is new…

I thought about this idea during my return to Unfiltered and how exactly I wanted to make use of this platform that I’m creating for myself. Obviously, this is a very music-facing space because music is literally everything that I am.

Not only do I work in music, but there was a time where I used to write music too. And I sing sometimes (mostly to myself now), although I don’t perform or post covers anymore. And I also listen to music like it’s my actual fucking job.

So it’s hard for me to detach from music in everything else that I do, like writing.

I’ve been using Spotify since the end of elementary school/beginning of high school and have seen the evolution of my music taste over the years. I owe a lot of that evolution to Spotify Wrapped and always love when I can see my listening stats in December because it shows how much music I consume in my regular day to day.

It’s also what makes Spotify users so elite…sorry Apple.

Between January 1st and October 31st every calendar year, Spotify will track your listening habits that will then translate into what you see in your Wrapped in December. Surprisingly, they don’t track your habits all 12 months of the year.

(meaning you have two months of listening to whatever the fuck you want without fear of being judged/stalked lol)

Since we’re now in that grace period, awaiting the return of Spotify Wrapped (due first week of December), and I have a pretty decent idea what my listening habits were like this year, I thought I’d create a prediction post of who and what I think will dominate the top categories this year. When Wrapped drops next month, I’ll refer back to this post to see how many predictions were right and maybe, this will become another yearly addition to Unfiltered.
