Because my Spotify library and all 44+ of my playlists are a huge part of me and my day to day, I feel like making and introducing this series to my blog was inevitable.

…just saying.

Since I spent most of February wallowing in music of all kinds and trying to get through what always happens to be my-mental-health-has-gone-to-shit February, why not compile a list of the songs I had on repeat the most?

34+35 Remix // Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion

Perfect for working out, perfect tune to sing to during a busy rush at work, perfect to listen to when you’re feeling your baddest.

Perfect for anything really.

Sue Me // Sabrina Carpenter

I don’t care what kind of hype is going on around this girl and her connection to Driver’s License, I’m telling you this song slaps. If I’m being completely honest, this song has been on my heavy rotation since it made its way onto my radar a few months ago. I will either listen to this song on repeat a couple nights a week or every day consecutively for a few days straight.

Chained // Elle King ft. Cameron Neal

For all the nights I’ve spent incredibly deep in my feelings and was too lazy to do anything about it. This too creeps its way back onto my heavy rotation every other month.

CYANIDE // Daniel Caesar

I genuinely adore this song so much. I don’t know what it is about this song specifically that just makes me so giddy every time I put it on. I know there’s a certain part of the song that I legit scream out loud and feel no ways, but hear me out:

Feel my love drip over your skin

Rich dark chocolate, sweet melanin

Forevermore you gon’ be my kin

Whatever jah has binded, let no man enter in

CYANIDE is a whole vibe.

Mrs. // Leon Bridges

I’ve been getting deep into Leon Bridges lately. I genuinely thought River was going to be one of my favourite songs until the end, but the first time I listened to Mrs. that very quickly changed.

Look, I’m not in a relationship or anything but all I’m gonna say is, it’s on the wedding playlist.

Standing on the Sun Remix // Beyoncé ft. Mr. Vegas

I don’t know how the FUCK I slept on this track on Yoncé. I wasn’t in my right mind in 2014 clearly, but it’s found its way back to me and I’m not mad. This song was destined to be a feel good song and it lives up to that.

Self Control // Frank Ocean

Listen, I love Frank Ocean and have BEEN going through the most withdrawals knowing he’s out living his best life but we don’t have a new album.

Self Control was one of the songs featured in Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Vol. 2 show. Listening to it as I was watching really put me back on the song. I think I listened to Blond from start to finish a few times after, but Self Control remains the song I come back to.

Come For It // Machel Montano

Even though things are pretty up in the air in regards to public events this year, it’s never too early for bana prep.

Beginning Middle End // The Greeting Committee

The third instalment for To All The Boys (aka the sappy book/movie series I simp for) came out a few weeks ago and this lovely lil tune was included in it. The movie made a huge, blubbering mess out of me but at least I got a cute lil tune out of it.

Cold War // Cautious Clay

I kid you not this song is on repeat once a day and still is (even as I write this). The story of how this song found its way to me is kinda funny: Spotify had snuck this one into one of my Daily Mix playlists one day and I ALMOST skipped it, after I’d finished listening to the song I actually wanted to listen to. But something about the sound and vibe drew me so I kept it on, thinking I’d add it to my birthday playlist and never think anything of it again. But I was so insanely wrong and I’m very happy I was.

If you’ve made it this far and you’re reading this, it means you made it through the entirety of my first heavy rotation playlist without dying. Congratulations, you now get access to the songs that made it onto my honourable mentions list because these tracks were too good not to add.

*Honourable Mentions:

pov // Ariana Grande

Bad Religion // Frank Ocean

Fast Wine // Machel Montano

Wild // John Legend ft. Gary Clark Jr.

These Words // Natasha Bedingfield

Fly Like A Bird // Mariah Carey

Kiss Me // Ed Sheeran

Holy // Justin Bieber ft. Chance the Rapper

Until next month…

ED out x.

Listen to: Home // Naughty Boy ft. RØMANS
